I have a hard time expressing the joy I have in my heart when I think of each of you. Your prayers, friendship, encouragement, and support bless Matt and I immensely and the greatest joy is seeing how those gifts pour forth into the lives of young people here. God is doing great things!
Matt and I celebrated one year of marriage August 14th. God has been so good to us this year. We are thankful for the opportunity He gave us to learn marriage in the place our hearts thrive: on the mission field. We have learned SO much this year!
The children’s church is growing and growing! We are beyond capacity in our little tents. It is a great challenge to face and we are adding more and more tented areas to accommodate the little ones.
As September came, so did additional responsibilities and fresh ideas. The youth at church embraced "Project 3:45," an initiative to get them in their Bibles daily. We had a go green party to kick it off, complete with an eating competition, a best dressed competition, testimonies from within the youth group, and the distribution of reading plans and bracelets. Since that time, preteens have joined along with several adults and youth, even who do not attend church! Praise the Lord!
The Lord had been stirring in our hearts for quite some time to pour into some of the youth that we have identified as being leaders within the group. God put 11 specifically on our hearts and we have met 3 times so far to challenge them to take their faith to the next level, live as servant leaders, and reach out to those who are hurting around them. It has been a great success as well as a wonderful encouragement to us. We love seeing them step up.
We’ve also had it on our hearts to get the kids here involved in serving the community. We discovered the perfect candidate for our service in a church member who is a single mother with 12 children under her care. A group of 14 of us went to aid her in picking up trash on her plot and leveling it out. We were there no more than 3 hours and by the end, her land looked great! We even (under the inspiration of Matt) built a little play area for the kids using some old tires lying around. They loved it!
Thank you for joining in his ministry to affect the lives of young people throughout the world. The Lord is doing great things!
