Fire by Night & Kids Sunday
2 Posted: Oct 26th at 5:50 AMKelly and I just had one of the best weekends yet here in Botswana. It is an exciting time. We praise God for all He is doing.
On Friday, we held our weekly youth service, called Fire by Night, and this week was the best one we have had yet! We had the most kids (150) that we have ever had, and they chose a great time to come. During the service, three of the youth shared testimonies of what God has been teaching them, and shared verses that have impacted their lives. We had an awesome time of worship, with youth also newly involved in a praise & worship team with Kelly. Then, I followed up with a message and story in line with what they said. I felt impressed to do an alter call and 10-15 youth accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, including a couple of "tough hearted" kids that we have been diligently praying for! It was awesome. Youth ministry is hard but the rewards can be amazing.
We followed that up with Children's Sunday yesterday at the church. 
We had somewhere between 260 and 270 kids show up, again our largest showing! Each age group performed a song and a memory verse before the whole church. 
The kids did great (and over 100 showed up for practice on their own on Saturday, ie. walked to church for it). 
It was one of the largest Sundays the church has had in a long time with over 500 total in attendance!
The kids performed, I preached a short message, and told a story, and then we handed out certificates to all the children. 
I once again felt in my heart that timing was right and did an alter call. Again, a bunch of hands went up - pretty much all the kid's hands and some adults as well! 
Numerous people have commented on how much they enjoyed it. We give the glory to God! He's doing a great work in the lives of those kids. Children's Sunday was a bunch of work, but it was well worth it.
In the last 24 hours, several people have come up to us with encouraging words about the Jesus they see in us and the future God has for us. Needless to say, Kelly and I are on cloud 9, loving the joy of the work God has entrusted to us, and looking forward to all that God has in store.
